Veterinarian / Owner

Dr. Jason Sweitzer has worked in veterinary medicine since 2000 and brings decades of experience to ALL HEARTs Veterinary Hospital in Simi Valley. Growing up in Ventura County, they developed an early appreciation for animals of all kinds — from dogs and cats to reptiles, birds, and small mammals.

Throughout their career, Dr. Sweitzer has worked in a wide range of settings, including single-doctor family practices, large multi-doctor hospitals, emergency care environments, and academic institutions such as the UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital. These experiences shaped their approach to medicine: combining advanced clinical skill with compassion, patience, and education.

Dr. Sweitzer has a strong interest in behavior-focused care and takes time to ensure clients understand their pet’s health, treatment options, and next steps. They believe that lowering stress and strengthening the human-animal bond are essential parts of quality veterinary care. They are also passionate about mental health within the veterinary profession and were a founding board member of Not One More Vet, Inc. Giving back to both the community and the profession has remained an important part of their career. Over the years, they have mentored hundreds of veterinary students, technicians, and veterinarians, and have lectured at veterinary schools and national conferences across the country.

After years of practice and professional leadership, Dr. Sweitzer returned to Ventura County to raise their two children with their wife, Angela, and their many beloved pets. Their household currently includes Juliette, a Golden Retriever/Labrador mix; Birdie, a long-haired standard Dachshund; cats Bonnie, Clyde, and Cheyenne; and Harley the tortoise. Over the years, Dr. Sweitzer has also cared for chinchillas, rats, iguanas, leopard geckos, fish, and more than 13 litters of orphaned kittens.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Sweitzer enjoys playing the alto saxophone, cycling, puzzles, and games of all kinds. One of their longest-standing passions is field hockey, where they have spent more than 30 years playing, umpiring, and coaching throughout Ventura County and at UC Davis. They also love laughter, puns, and comedy, having won multiple pun competitions and even performed stand-up comedy during veterinary school talent shows. Most of all, they enjoy connecting with clients and their pets and love seeing familiar faces at local events and throughout the community
